Song, by Ezra Pound

Song

Winter is icummen in,
Lhude sing Goddamm,
Raineth drop and staineth slop,
and how the wind doth ramm,
Sing: Goddamm.
Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,
An ague hath my ham.
Freezeth river, turneth liver,
Damn you, sing: Goddamm.
Goddamm, Goddamm, 'tis why I am, Goddamm,
So 'gainst the winter's balm.
Sing goddamm, damm, sing Goddamm,

Sing goddamm, sing goddamm, DAMM.

LMAO, that poem so perfectly expresses what my daughter's attitude has always been to our rainy Northwest winters. But now, after a year and a half in Santa Monica, she's so ready to come back to the blustery North. One day last week, on the phone I told her "It's doing that thing you hate: almost-sleet coming down sideways", and she sighed and said "Even that sounds good."

I'm sure she'll be singing goddamn, DAMN about our weather again within a month of her return, but that's okay: it's such a familiar tune, and I've kinda missed it. ^^
