В павильонах выставки «Россия» на ВДНХ корреспондент «Фонтанки» спросил у помощника президента РФ Владимира Мединского, считается ли Петербург по-прежнему окном в Европу или в новой исторической реальности городу другую главную роль себе подобрать бы.
«Нам не надо было его прорубать. У нас вокруг было много разных дверей, ворот, всего прочего», — заявил Владимир Мединский.
По его мнению: «...у нас полно окон и дверей»... «мы и есть Европа». Помощник президента отметил, что Европа «христианская, культурная, истинная, римская, византийская» — это Россия, а соседям еще надо доказать, что они «по-прежнему Европа».
«Пусть на нас смотрят через окна, двери и учатся», — резюмировал он.
